Los Ninos

This is just the begining of my photos. All of the ones here are the one I took.
There will be more soon.

I had so much fun with the Children of Higuerillas. I really cannot express it in words, but it was wonderful. This pictures don't do justic eto the beatuy and uniquness. I had 2 favorites, both boys. One was 9 and his name was Daniel. The little one, Rode, was 2.

Enjoy!

The little one in the picture is Rode. He is so cute and when I told him that I had a Grande Perro at my house, he said that he would come home with me. Too bad he has a wonderful mama in Mexico, otherwise he would be here! The day I fell in love with him, I was making balloon animals and he kept begging for "un globo, un globo." He was so darling!

This is the play ground that the youth group raised money for and then bulit in the back yard of the church. The children had SO much fun on it. It was hard to keep them off of it as the construction was being finalized.

Centro Familiar Cristiano

While in Mexico we were in a city called Higuerillas, near El Mezquital.
(Don't let this link fool you, we were not near anything that looked remotely as beautiful as this website.)

The church where we worked was most devastated by hurricane Emily last year while we were in Matamorosin July 2005. During this hurricane and the aftermath that followed, God led our group to a man named Felix who lived near Higuerillas. He led us to a devastated community and to Pastor Victor. That was the beginning of what God had for our group!

This blue building in the backgroud is the old church building in July of 2005, days after Emily came. The church had a lot of water damage and was filled with inches on sand. Our group was able to serve God last year with clean up and prayer with Pastor Victor and Adela.

This is the new church building that was stared when we arrived. This was day one!

Greetings

This is Grace, Adela, and Heatehr in the hotel lobby. Grace was one of our wonderful traslators. She spent many years in the misionary field in Gueatemala. She is now moving to O'Fallon!

Adela is the wife of Pastor Victor, the pastor at Centro Familiar Cristiano, the church where we were all week.

Heather is one of us. She is an awesome lady and a hardworker!

The following pictures were taken during our trip to the Market in downtown Matamoros. I love walking through this place, you can get a real taste of the culture in the city while being with the people.

Vacation Pets

While I was on vacation I got to spend some time with some "vacation pets." Don't tell Jackson.

This Mark, he is BIG and very full of energy. He LOVES people. Mark wants to be a therapy dog when he grows up!

Pretty Boy

Sleeping dogs are always so cute!

This is Hannah. She is SO sweet, I want to steal her some day,
but I don't think her family will let me.

This is Hannah is MY bed. It was awesome to sleep with a snuggling dog
after a week away from home.

I decided that this "Kodak moment" needed to have photo documentation, just for fun!

And last, but not least, the cats, Carmel and Spanky. It looks like Satan may actually reside in Carmel, look at the slanted, yellow eyes! Yikes!
I actually got Spanky( the darker cat) to pur on the last night that we were there!

Maggie's Place

Welcome

It come complete with a wooden screen door that slams shut!
I love it, I think it is a good form of therapy.

Here is my favorite place to sit, read and relax. I love this deck.

The view from my favorite spot on the deck.

Looking up from my favorite spot.

This is the view from the back deck.

A cool picture of my Bible that I took while I was playing with the settings on my new camera.
I spent a lot of time in Proverbs while we were in Michigan.

Fireworks and Other stuff

We went to Pentwater to see fireworks on July 3rd. It was a fun night. Tom, Brandi, Linda, Kiana, and I ate dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Hart and then drove to Pentwater and played in the little shops for a while. We got ice cream and then staked out a perfect place to see the fireworks. Brighton, Monaca, and Will met up with us in time for the show! By the way, I had on jeans and a jacket on JULY 4!
This was in a resale shop in Hart. Why didn't they just take this down and give it the person who bought it?

Fishing boats docked in Pentwater, right where we sat to watch the fireworks.

Brighton a Kiana waiting for the fireworks to begin.

I love this picture!

Sunset

This is the night that Brandi was taking pictures of the 2 girls on the beach. While Brandi and Tom were doing this, Will and I were trying to take some pictures of the sunset. There was a large group of people playing with a dog and yelling at their kids while being in the way of MANY of our photos (please note the picture of the sun with the blur of a dog across the bottom-kind of cool). A comment was made, to the dog, "Hey, don't get in the way of the tourists!" The following picture is this man's child. Maybe one should think about their own family before making comments about others.
